GlycoAid's label lists a "500mg proprietary blend" of 14 ingredients. Here's what that phrase actually means, and doesn't.
A proprietary blend lets a manufacturer disclose the total weight of a combined formula and the order of ingredients by weight, without breaking out the individual amount of each one. This is legal under U.S. supplement labeling rules.
The ingredient order tells you something real: on GlycoAid's label, Berberine is listed first (the largest share) and Licorice Root last (the smallest). That ordering is the only quantity information a proprietary blend gives you.
You cannot know whether Berberine is present at 400mg or 40mg, or whether Licorice Root is 1mg or 15mg. Any comparison to a specific research dose for an individual ingredient is guesswork unless the manufacturer discloses it separately.
A proprietary blend isn't automatically a red flag — but it does mean you're trusting the formulation team's judgment on ratios rather than verifying them yourself. Worth knowing before you assume the label matches a study you've read about a specific ingredient.
